Faithful Forecast

A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Weather thru September 22

9/14/2013

Late Week Update: I am too quick with the rain for this week. I should have updated Wed, but did not have the chance so I am doing it today. Friday (today) ought to be sunny and warm. Highs near 77, lows near 58. Saturday will be what I expected Fri to be. Cloudy becoming breezy, with showers and thunderstorms with some heavy rain continuing into the late evening. I would expect at least an inch as there is a tropical connection with former Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Manuel. Lots of rain in Texas on NE and that moisture is surging toward us. Highs Sat near 73, lows near 60. Sunday will be cooler, less humid with gusty winds out of the west. Clouds and sunshine. Highs near 70. Lows near 45.

Enjoy your weekend!
Review of the Past Week:

Talk about a changeable week!  Cool and dry to start, very hot and stormy in the middle, then dry and fall-like at the end. Not the best forecast over all. Underestimated the heat, and overstated the chill for Fri night. Sky conditions were forecasted well though. Here are the grades: Sun = B, Mon = B-, Tue = A-, Wed = A-, Thu = A-, Fri = B, Sat = A+. Total grade = B+.

Overview for Coming Week:

This coming week will be typical of September. A reinforcing shot of cool air will come in Monday. As this happens Hurricane Irene or what is left of her will be sitting over NE Mexico just south of Texas. The flow of air around her and the big high in the NE US, will help push deep moisture into the South central plains. This may mean more rain for flooded Colorado. This moisture could get pulled toward our area giving a heavy rain at the end of the week as a strong storm moves through southern Canada dragging another cold front across Sat.  The warmest weather will be in the SW and Rockies with a weakening ridge.

Specifics:

Sunday: Mostly sunny, very pleasant. Daytime highs near 75. Clouds increase very, very late and into the night. Maybe a shower overnight. Nighttime lows near 55.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, then partly sunny, cool. Daytime highs near 67. Nighttime lows near 48.

Tuesday: Sunny, very pleasant. Daytime highs near 69. Nighttime lows near 45.

Wednesday: Sunny, a little milder. Daytime highs near 72. Nighttime lows near 49.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, mild. Daytime highs near 77. Clouds will increase during the night, maybe a light shower, but mainly dry. Nighttime lows near 56.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. SW winds picking up, as showers & thunderstorms become numerous in the afternoon and evening. The rain should continue into the over night. Daytime highs near 75, nighttime lows near 60.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, some very late clearing possible by late afternoon. Showers in the morning, with a gusty breeze developing as well. Daytime highs near 65. Nighttime lows near 50.

Sunday:   Mostly sunny. Daytime highs near 68, nighttime lows near 44.

Hint thru September 29: This week should feature a mild week (not hot temps below 80 for most part) for us as a ridge develops in the east, and a trough dumps into the west. This will cool off the west ending their summer, and put us into a very pleasant weather pattern temperature-wise. It will likely become wet as tropical moisture is funneled north later in the week.
