Couple of items to address from earlier discussing this week:
1.No heat wave in sight: The measurement for a heat wave is 3 or more consecutive days of reaching 90 degrees or higher. I find this rule silly … since our average high temperature right now is 85-86 degrees. So, a few to several degrees above average and we have a heat wave, even though we are more acclimated to the heat. Yet back in May, when we are NOT acclimated to the heat, since temperatures average in the 70s, and we reach 90 twice, and 89 once, that is NOT a heat wave. Hmmm …
2.The Cooler Weekend: The cooler air is delayed, but not denied. Yes, this weekend will be warm and very humid. But the cooler weather is coming starting Tue of next week. So, the pattern is shifting. Instead of the weekends being cooler, the midweek will be cooler. Perhaps things are changing to where more sustained heat will maintain itself as we head into August? This remains unclear.
This weekend will start nice: A great sunny and “hot” Friday followed by a sunny start to Saturday. Clouds will increase and showers and thunderstorms will make for a wet Saturday night into Sunday morning. The potential is there for some very heavy rain, however the details of exactly where the storms and weak area of low pressure track need to be worked out. And that will not be really known until Saturday afternoon.
Enough is known to be able to point out that PA is likely to have areas of very heavy rain Sat night into Sun morning. More info by Sat morning.
Sunday should start wet, then it may clear giving us some steamy sunshine for a several hours before more showers and storms become likely late once again. Showers and storms are also likely on Monday. After the front moves through later Monday we turn much less humid and cooler for Tue – Thu.
The warmth will try to come back in again leading to more wet weather at the end of the week.
Friday: Mostly sunny. Very warm and humid.
Saturday: Mostly sunny then increasing clouds. Humid. Warm. Showers and storms with heavy rain likely overnight.
Sunday: Showers and storms ending early. Come clearing. Warm and humid. Showers and storms likely again late and overnight.
Monday: Partly sunny. A couple of showers and a thunderstorm is likely. Humid.
Tuesday: Turning cooler and much less humid. Sun and clouds. Breezy at times.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Very pleasant.
Thursday: Mostly sunny. Very pleasant.
