![]() Well the extreme “heat wave” is going down in flames. No 100 degree readings, and unless Monday reaches 95, we won’t even reach a 100 degree heat index reading before a cool front moves through and lowers our humidity and temps a little. This is typical hot July weather. Nothing extreme. And should we be surprised? NO! Again, nothing has really changed in the over-all scheme of things in the weather, except that we are in the hottest time of the year, so the “cool” air that is available from Canada is not so cool. But it does keep the high heat at bay. Now, we will have a technical heat wave: reaching at least 3 straight days of 90 degrees. But with an average high temperature of 85, is 90 really all that big a deal? It is even laughable when there is talk of Philadelphia having a heat wave. Their average high temp right now is 87. But 3 90 degree days in a row is a heat wave? Now, please do be careful. We are not as conditioned to heat and humidity since we have the comforts of air conditioning. Drink plenty of water, and spend time in the shade too. And yes, this will be an extended period of very warm to hot weather through the end of next week. So people will either get tired of it or will just get used to it. Today and Monday should be the worst days. Humidity will really increase today, and be very high on Monday. But on Saturday the humidity should lower, and a W/NW wind picks up making a more comfortably hot day. Although temps will be higher, with lower humidity it won’t feel as hot. Same for Sunday, but even better as temps may just barely reach 90. So a “comfortably” hot Sat and Sun looks to be in store, however Monday does look uncomfortable. Next week looks very much the same: Very warm, not a lot of rain, and nothing extreme. Points for Next 7 Days:
Details: Friday: 90. Mostly sunny. Chance for showers/thunderstorms. Saturday: 93. Mostly sunny. Breeze and lowering humidity in afternoon. Sunday: 90. Mostly sunny. Becoming more humid late. Monday: 95. Mostly sunny. Very hot and humid. Showers and thunderstorms likely late and overnight. Tuesday: 90. Mostly sunny. Hot, but lowering humidity. Wednesday: 88. Mostly sunny. Thursday: 89. Mostly sunny.
