We are entering the middle of summer. And it is time to be able to evaluate the forecast idea for summer: Warmer and drier than average.
The warmer is doing well. Very well. The drier was evolving, but the moist pattern for the eastern half of the nation is a bit of a surprise. Some dryness was developing in the NE, and Mid Atlantic, as well as Great Lakes and parts of the Central Plains, esp. north. But that ha been beaten back in the Mid Atlantic, and Great Lakes. More beating back of dryness will occur in New England and northern Central Plains this week. This is a good thing. Warmth and moisture equals great growing conditions. My gardens is offering proof. Things are growing well. This coming week looks warm and potentially wet to very wet. It all depends on how many showers/storms you get over your house. If you get several = very wet. If you get a couple = wet. You get the idea. Once we get through this coming Friday, we should enter an extended period of nice dry weather. Probably start "cool" and end hot. But that is a long way off. Details: Today: Mostly sunny. Breezy at times. Pleasant. 82. Sunday: Partly sunny. Chance showers early. Showers/storms likely late. Humid. 83. Monday: Partly sunny. Humid. Showers/storms likely afternoon/evening. 88. Tuesday: Partly sunny. Humid. Showers/storms likely afternoon/evening. 90. Wednesday: Partly sunny. Humid. Chance for showers/storms. 90. Thursday: Mostly sunny. Humid. Chance for a shower/storm. 91. Friday: Mostly sunny. Showers/storms likely late. 92. Saturday; Mostly sunny. Pleasant. 81. Enjoy.

Happy Independence Day to all! Enjoy the freedom of this nation to freely exercise the freedom that is found in Jesus Christ. The LORD our God is the author of Liberty. Our life is found in Him. Our freedom is found in Him. For He is the One who sets us free.
Weather for the 4th looks really nice. But today looks damp, esp. this afternoon. Not a washout, but showers and maybe a rumble of thunder will be scattered to numerous later today. Some sunshine this morning, will lead to more clouds and brief showers throughout the area as an upper low slowly moves away. Sunday should turn out mostly sunny with building clouds and perhaps a sprinkle in a locale here and there but over-all beautiful. The heat surges back starting Mon and last through Wed. Like last week, Wed should be the worst of the heat. Then do we have a tropical storm (Hurricane Elsa now but will weaken) bringing rain into our area by Thursday? Maybe. Maybe not. I lean toward no, as it ought to just miss us to the SE but a frontal boundary may be hung up over our area, leading to numerous showers and storms making for some heavy soaking rains. Then cooler for a brief time. I expect the heat to try and move back in again. As has happened so far this summer: the models in the long range show a great cooling coming for several days ... only for it to take longer to get here, and it lasts for a couple of days. So the models have been understating the heat. They are doing it again for next week (example: Tue, VBS day Camp was looking like 80 at 7 days away, then it went to upper 80's, now it looks like low 90's. 12+ degree change in 5 days? Oops) Details: Rest of Today: Partly sunny. Showers likely this afternoon. Brief downpour possible. 72. July 4th: Mostly sunny. Beautiful. Low humidity. 80. Monday: Mostly sunny. Warm. 87. Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. 92. Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Chance storms overnight. 95. Thursday: Partly sunny. Humid. Showers/storms likely. 80. Friday: Partly sunny. Chance shower. 80. Saturday: Partly sunny. Chance for showers. 81. Enjoy. I pray you have enjoyed the beautiful days of late, because the heat and humidity is about to take over. The heat and humidity will build over the next two days and hit with full force on Mon, Tue and Wed. The heat may try to hold on into Thu. The humidity will.
After which a slow moving front will drop into the area and produce widespread showers/storms for late Wed, Thu and Fri. Possible into Sat and Sun too. But that is getting far into the future to know for certain. It will be much cooler over the July 4th weekend. It things work out poorly, Sat could be rather wet and chilly with highs in the 60s and rain. A little skeptical of this idea, but it is possible. Details: Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny. More humid. 84. Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny. Humid. 88. Monday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. 91. Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. 93. Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Thunderstorms/showers likely late. 93. Thursday: Partly sunny. Very warm. Humid. Showers/storms likely. 88. Friday: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Showers/storms likely. 80. Enjoy. Sorry for the lack of updates ... been too busy being a Dad, a husband, and a pastor. Issuing a forecast comes after the other 4 are taken care of so to speak.
Father's Day looks really nice. Warm. Humid. Sunshine and clouds. Perhaps a stray shower or storm. Otherwise enjoy the day after worshiping our Lord and Heavenly Father. Monday looks hot. Humid. Stormy in the late afternoon and into the overnight. Some heavy rain, gusty winds will accompany any storms. Tuesday as the front moves through (debate over timing I think early afternoon, but it could be midmorning) it will bring showers and maybe a rumble of thunder. Much cooler behind this front and some very nice days of Wed, Thu, and into Fri. Rain chances increase as we near next weekend. Details: Father's Day: Partly to mostly sunny. Warm. Humid. Stray shower/storm. 86. Monday: Partly to mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Showers/storms likely late. 90. Tuesday: Cloudy. Showers likely esp. after 11 am. Cooler. 76. Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Refreshing breeze. 72. Thursday: Sunny. 75. Friday: Mostly sunny. Slight chance shower late. 80. Saturday: Partly sunny. Showers/storms becoming likely. 78. Enjoy. Some adjustments to the forecast. It is hot. It will be humid. However, it looks wetter as a boundary will push further south into our area, causing widespread showers and storms for Tue - Fri. The potential is there for a heavy rainfall total.
This should clear out by next weekend with much cooler conditions. Details: Monday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Showers and storms scattered about. 90. Tuesday: Partly sunny. Humid. Showers and storms likely. 85. Wednesday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Showers and storms likely. 82. Thursday: Cloudy. Numerous showers. 75. Friday: Cloudy. Showers ending. Cooler. 67. Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny. 71. Sunday: Mostly sunny. 73. Enjoy. The weather is more humid and warmer, but we have only begun. It will turn hot by Monday and stay that way through at least Wed of next week. Temps should approach 90 on Sunday, and into the lower 90s Mon - Wed. Rain chances? Maybe today, and maybe Tue, the best chance will be Wed and over the following weekend.
I said a while back that I thought we would have a drier summer, and I still stand with that. Our rain chances have not be numerous, and when it looks like we will get a soaking rain, it seems to underperform for the most part. Ex: last weekend we got over an inch, but the models were showing over 2". Yesterday (Thu) a good widespread .50 - 1" looked good, didn't happen except for a few spots. Underperforming rain chances and less chances spells potential for a drier summer. We shall see. Details: Today: mostly cloudy. Chance for a scattered shower or storm (mainly SE). 75. Saturday: Mostly sunny. Warm. 85. Sunday: Mostly sunny. Very warm. 88. Monday: Sunny. Hot. Humid. 91. Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Slight chance shower or storm. 92. Wednesday: Partly to mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Showers/storms likely. 91. Thursday: Mostly sunny. Cooler. Less humid. 80. Friday: Partly sunny. 77. Enjoy. Do you want a nice mild Memorial Day weekend? Great. Then travel well away from the NE USA. Yup, a slow moving system will ruin Friday through early Monday. Basically the weekend is toast if you are looking for sunny nice weather.
Friday the system approaches with a soaking rain from noon to 6 am Sat. Expect 1-1.5" of rain. Then clouds remain with numerous showers about on Saturday as the system reorganizes to our south. On Sunday that new organization creeps north along the coast, and with a chilly upper level low around, showers will be scattered during the day. The system lifts NE by Monday afternoon, but it will still be cool. Details: Thursday: Mostly sunny. Less humid. Cooler. 79. Friday: Cloudy. Showers developing then a steady rain into the night. 63. Saturday: Any steady rain ends. Showers. 55. Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. 55. Monday: Partly sunny. Nicer but cool. 65. Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Warmer. 74. Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Additional afternoon clouds. 75. Enjoy. We got a roller coaster and its just beginning. A few more up and downs before we are through this. In the end, it will be a cooler and wetter regime for a little while in early June.
Tue remains cloudy with a few breaks of sun. Warmer. We Wednesday is hot. Sunny then showers/storms possible late. Thursday is a warm but cooler. Friday starts ok, but ends wet and cool. Sat will be damp and cool also. Not a great start to Memorial Day weekend, but Sunday looks nice, and Memorial Day itself looks spectacular. Low humidity and comfortable temps. Details: Tuesday: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Warmer. 78. Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. More humid. 89. Showers and thunderstorms late. Thursday: Partly to mostly sunny. Less humid. Cooler. 81. Friday: Cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely. 64. Saturday: Chance for showers. Cool. 60. Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny. Nicer. 70. Monday: Sunny. Beautiful 78. Enjoy. The heat and the dryness will persist through this weekend, before a brief break in the heat, and maybe dryness, then hot for a day or two and then better chances for rain.
Mostly sunny skies today and Sunday will lead to a hot/very warm weekend. Humidity will creep up a little also. There could be a shower or thunderstorm possible Sun evening as a cool front drops SSW. Much cooler Monday. Lots of clouds. Chance for numerous showers, but best chance is to our west and south. Some clearing on Tue as warmth pushes back north. Wednesday should be hot again with temps in the 80s to near 90. Thu could be quite warm depending on how the cold front moves. The best chance for rain in nearly 3 weeks will next Thu night into Fri night. Perhaps a soaking? It does appear that as we enter into June we will be in a cooler and potentially wet pattern. I still think a dry summer is coming, but there will be periods of wetness too. Guess we'll find out. Details: Sunday: Mostly sunny. High clouds around. Chance shower late. 88. Monday: Cloudy. Much cooler. Chance for showers. 66. Tuesday: Partly sunny. Warmer. 80. Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Hot. 89. Thursday: Partly to mostly sunny. Chance for shower/storm. 82. Friday: Chance for showers and thunderstorms. 70. Saturday: Chance for showers. Rather cool. 63. Enjoy. |
