When you are in a stagnant pattern … the weather from day to day simply seems to repeat itself. We are in a stagnant pattern. Things just are not moving quickly right now, but some movement will be occurring when a cold front finally moves through our area Wednesday night. But until then it’s the same as we have been having …
However, the very warm to hot weather is beginning to wind down. Two more days and then it is much cooler. However, the dry stretch of weather will continue. We’ve gone over a week now without rain, and could very well go through Thursday without having any rain. Friday looks like solid chance for some showers as a reinforcing cold front drops SE out of Canada and give us a beautiful, but cool autumn weekend.
Hurricane Maria: as expected she is tracking west of Jose’s track, and threatening NC coast. She will not get near Cape Cod, as she is too slow moving and a cold front from the west will shove her out to sea before she can get much further north than the Outer Banks of NC.
Change of Season: That is what it will feel like starting Thursday, as a strong cold front sweeps through Wednesday night, and ushers in more typical fall weather. Temperatures will rise to around 70 for Thu and Fri, and even cooler over the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will drop into 40 by Fri night and over the weekend. Some colder spots could get as low as 40 or even upper 30s. No danger for frost though.
Rain: I originally thought the front coming from the west to push Maria out to sea, would be a deeper trough thus allowing some moisture from Maria to be syphoned north into our area. Well, that is not going to happen. The trough is not as deep, and is positively tilted (SW to NE) thus the moisture for the front is very limited. We could see a shower later Wed, but don’t change any plans because I doubt it will rain. But Fri afternoon and evening will provide the best chance for rain showers in the upcoming 7 days.
Tuesday: Partly sunny. Very warm. Humid.
Wednesday: Partly sunny. Very warm. Humid. Slight chance for a shower.
Thursday: Sunny. Breezy and much cooler.
Friday: Sunny then increasing clouds. Showers likely afternoon/evening.
Saturday: Partly sunny. Much cooler. Breezy.
Sunday: Sun and clouds. Cool. Breezy at times.
Monday: Mostly sunny. Seasonally cool.
