6 am update: We have changed to sleet here in the valley after 1/2" of snow. Dry air fought off the development of snow longer than I throught it would. Didn't start snowing until about 4 am. And when it did snow developed all throughout east PA. So the further east you go the more snow there will be, although most will see less than 2" unless you head noth of 1-80. There the snow will hold most of the morning. For us sleet then freeing rain. The sleet could be heavy at times, but that warm air is advancing quickly so the transition to freezing rain could occur pretty fast; perhaps before sunrise. From what I am seeing right now, surface temperatures will likely stay at or below freezing for most of the day, leading to a heavier amount of freezing rain and less snow/sleet. Too bad. Ice is simply bad. Snow and sleet can at least be moved out of the way. Be careful. The rain will wash this stuff away starting early tomorrow morning. It's bitter cold. The immediate surface of the ground is frozen. Ice is forming on the streams and ponds. And its going to rain? Yes ... the glories of weather. If you don't like what you got ... just wait a little. It will change. See below for details on this "Mess" of a storm.
