A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Weather thru November 17

11/2/2013

Good Afternoon!

It is wet, but not that warm. Actually it was warm this morning as expected but the front came through a little earlier than initially expected, making us cooler. But it did rain.

Now for the adjustments mostly due to time of events. Colder air is coming earlier so tonight will be cooler, and so will Friday. Sat still looks good, but maybe a little cool as system passes to our north on Sunday pulling slightly milder air into our area.

Tonight: Clearing skies. Cooler. Breezy west winds. Low: 35.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Cooler. High: 51. Low: 27

Saturday: Mostly sunny, winds may pick up later in the day. high: 50. Some clouds at night. Low: 37

Now for next week. A major surge of very cold air (Mid December like cold) will be coming down for a visit. This very cold air, combined with above normally warm water off the East Coast will set the stage for a possible major storm to develop next Wed. This could be off shore ... could be a major windy rain storm ... or a significant heavy snowstorm ... or some kind of combination. Stay tuned as our first measurable snow is certainly possible midweek next week.

Good Afternoon on a nice November Saturday!

First remember to turn your clocks back on hour tonight!  Secondly, the weather this past week was not exactly as I had envisioned in my forecast. I was too cold for many days, esp. Fri. Sat and some of the overnights. I would give myself a "C". But this is a new week.

Overview for upcoming week:

Wash, rinse and do it all over again. What we got this week we are likely to get this week. Shot of cold, with a big high building over our area, as a big deep cold trough invades the western US. As they get snow in the mountains and grow cold, we will start cold, but then warm up.  A big storm will move through the Great Lakes brings lots of rain from Texas on NE through the Lakes and the NE.  As this storm moves up to our west it will pull some warm air north. It may not reach 70, but 60s are definite. Behind this we get more chilly air, and then we reload the pattern again the following week.

Details:

Sunday: Mostly sunny and very chilly. Breezy in the afternoon with a few clouds around. Cold at night. High: 47. Low: 24.

Monday: Mostly sunny chilly after frosty morning. High: 45. Low: 29.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly sunny. Milder. High: 52. Low. 35. [tough call as clouds could increase. If so then temps 5 deg. warmer]

Wed: Partly to mostly sunny by afternoon. Low clouds/fog possible early. High: 55. low: 48.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Rain. Some on the heavy side. Winds increasing and gusty. Milder. High: 65. Low: 50

Friday: Clouds and sunshine. Seasonal. High: 56. Low: 35

Saturday: Sunny. Much cooler. High: 49. Low: 28.

Hint through November 17:

Basically look at the weather pattern of this past week. for next week and then you will have a very good idea for the middle week of November. Trough into the west, then coming out and moving into the east with a warm up, rain and then chill down for the weekend. It is interesting to note how the trough does not want o lock into the west. It kicks out. Again, I think the weather by the end of this month will lock into the early winter weather pattern with a trough in the east, and some potential for stormy weather. A white Christmas?  Time will tell.

Have great Lord's Day!
