Review of the past week:
I am really glad that I updated my forecast early in the week. Otherwise it would have been a disaster, as Thu's system was a game changer. As it turned out we did not get as much rain and severe weather as feared. That is a good thing. It is also very hard to pin point those events, because to get severe weather the conditions have to be just right, esp. in this part of the country. Thankfully all it did was rain and thunder early on in the day. And now what a great start to Father’s Day weekend!
A wet start to the week is on tap. Maybe a shower Thu, but from Wed into next weekend sunshine will dominate. Temperatures will begin to warm significantly from Wed’s upper 70s to Saturdays low to mid 90s. The heat will last for about 2 days maybe 3 days. Sat –Sun will both be hot. But the heat will end on Monday at the latest.
Father’s Day: Partly sunny with a decent chance for some showers/thunderstorms in the afternoon. It will remain quite comfortable with temperatures reaching the upper 70s to near 80.
Mon-Tue: the wettest period of the week. Showers and storms are possible both days (esp. Monday before dawn, and evening and then all day Tue) and as usual some will have heavy downpours. It should be partly sunny, more humid but certainly not hot for summer; highs should be low 80s Mon and mid/upper 70s Tue with more clouds.
Wed: A beautiful day! Lots of sunshine, a nice little breeze and highs reaching the upper 70s. Open the windows as it cools off to mid 50s at night.
Thu: Similar to Wed with temps in the low 80s for highs, but some clouds and a slight chance for a shower or thundershower. Most of us will stay dry.
Fri – Sat – Sun: Very nice. Mostly sunny during the day with increasing heat and humidity starting Friday with highs in the mid to upper 80s, to Sat-Sun when highs will soar past 90. Some locals may try to approach 95 the hottest weather of the early summer so far. But the heat will not last long. Cooler weather will be approaching on Monday.
Hint thru June 30: The heat will be beaten back and cooler, seasonal weather will take control for the early part of the week. It will start wet with showers and thunderstorms, but then turn nice. The heat may try to return at the end of the week and bring some showers/thunderstorms with it, but it should not be as wet as it has been of late.
