Faithful Forecast

A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Weather thru Father's Day

6/8/2013

Review:  The heat left and then a very beneficial rain came for the area. Some areas east of here got a lot more, but no real major flooding issues there either. It was cooler than I expected though, at the end of the week (Thu – Fri) as cooler air stayed locked in. The wet weather came in earlier than previously thought, but not a bad call considering a tropical storm did get involved.  Not a great week, but not bad of a forecast either.

The coming week will start humid with times of showers and storms than transition to drier and possibly much warmer as a burst of heat may try to surge northeast in time for Father’s Day … but some rain may come with that attempted surge of heat.

This is how I see it:

Sun: Sun and clouds; humid with a chance of a thunderstorm late in the day. It will be rain free for most. Temperatures will reach into the middle 80s.

Mon: [Quite the forecast battle here. One forecast model says good rains early Monday, another says not until Tuesday. Yet, another says lots of rain Monday night and nothing for Tuesday. What a mess and its 48 hours away!] My forecast:  A shower is possible early but mainly warm and humid with some morning sun giving way to afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.  Some could be heavy into Monday night. Highs ought to top out right around 80 degrees.

Tue: Not quite as humid, a nice breeze from the west, but more clouds than sunshine with a good chance of afternoon showers and maybe a thunderstorm. High temperatures making it to the mid/upper 70s.

Wed - Thu: the most comfortable days of the week as high pressure tries to take control. Wed should be the better with a good amount of sunshine and temperatures very average for middle of June: right around 80. Thu will be about the same, but clouds will likely increase from the west.  Some rain is possible Thu night into Friday, but more likely to our west and south.

Fri: A tricky start to the day. It is possible that a wave of low pressure producing a cluster or complex of thunderstorms will be leaving our area in the morning, however, it is more likely that areas further south will be impacted; but time will tell.  Temperatures ought to be nice with highs in mid 70s with some clouds, but clearing skies.

Sat – Sun: Very nice. Lots of sunshine, warmer, and more humid especially Sunday. Temperatures will jump into the 80s Sat and upper 80s Sun.

Hint thru June 22: Brief heat breaking early, with some strong thunderstorms, then cooler and more refreshing, but the warmth will try to come north again with increasing chances of rain later in the week.  A very seasonal week: average rain and average temperatures for the week as a whole.
