Weather thru August 18

8/10/2013

Update for Midweek: Not much to change at all. The forecast looks good. Expect some cool mornings Thu and Fri. The breeze will be quite gusty on Wed afternoon, but much lighter by Thu.  The only real change is to lower tonight's temperatures as the cool air is coming in a little sooner. Expect it to cool off to the upper 50s. Enjoy the week. next update Sat.
Review of the Past Week:

What a changeable week. Cool and sunny to warm and oppressive. The low Fri morning was not that much lower than the high earlier in the week on Tue.  Amazing stuff weather is. I am very glad I made the changes I made midweek. Otherwise the second half of the week forecast was going to be a dud.  We had some heavy rain, again. And it got hot Thu and briefly of Fri. I was too cool for Fri, even with update. My grade: B+ with update. C- without update.

Overview:

The week coming up will be really nice except for one day: Tuesday.  No real heat, nor humidity outside of Tue. As you can see to the left, that the "L" is a wave of low pressure along a strong front. This would induce some heavy rains for our area next Tuesday. After this the weather will be very nice. .

It seems for the most of the week a large high will move down from Canada and park itself over the Ohio Valley and slowly ooze to the east. The air will be dry and refreshing as it comes out of the north from Canada (see left).

But this may become a pattern changer or at least hinting at a change. What I mean is that the main surge of cool may shift a bit further west making us closer to the Atlantic ridge. This would mean more warm weather, and drier over all too. I think as we get closer to September we will see a warmer pattern evolve and September will be a warm month, as well as dry (unless tropical storms get involved).

Specifics:

Sunday: A beautiful day with low humidity, with plenty of sunshine. Daytime highs near 80, nighttime lows near 55.

Monday: Starting off very nice, but clouds will tend to increase in the afternoon. It will become a little more humid. Daytime highs near 81, nighttime lows near 68.

Tuesday: Rain showers, thunderstorms. Some heavy rain is likely. I would expect around 1” with locally higher amounts of rain. Daytime highs near 75, nighttime lows near 65.

Wednesday: A beautiful day with a strong breeze ushering in much cooler, drier air. There will be some afternoon puffy clouds. Daytime highs near 77, nighttime lows near 53.

Thursday: Very similar to Wednesday, with lighter winds and less clouds.  Daytime highs near 74, nighttime lows near 50.

Friday: Another winner, just a little bit warmer in the afternoon. There will be plenty of sunshine under blue skies. Daytime highs near 78, nighttime lows near 54.

Saturday: Another good day, but some moisture may try to move in from the S and SW in the form or a few more clouds and slightly higher humidity. It should stay dry. Daytime highs near 83, nighttime lows near 60.

Sunday:   A day where clouds and sun will share the sky. Showers and storms may try to sneak in late in the day. But it looks mainly dry. Daytime highs near 83, nighttime lows near 64.

Hint thru August 25: the last weekend before school begins L.   It looks milder, with moisture returning from the S and SW, but the warmer weather tries to hold and the main thrust of chill will be to our west as the pattern shifts more to the west. So a normal week temp wise and rain wise.
