Faithful Forecast

A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Weather the May 11

4/27/2013

Overview:

  1. Mon - Tue will feature lots of clouds, some showers and possible thunderstorms as moisture from the south works its way up and stalls over our area. high pressure to our NE will keep New England dry.
  2. Wed - Thu will likely be drier, but you cannot rule out some showers. The problem will be the clouds. Will they be able to clear out?  PRobably not totally. It will be much more humid however.
  3. Very cold air will once again invade the centeral US. The cold air will stay to our west though, as a big storm develops and stall out west.
  4. Meanwhile another storm will develop off FL-GA-SC coast. This storm will very likely get pivoted NNW into the Midatlantic region. THat means we could be facing a very heavy rain storm late in the week for late Thu - Sat.
  5. Flooding is likely for some areas of the Appalachian Mountains, particularly the central section.  A close eye will have to be kept on our area. I may do a special post if the threat looks likely for here as well.
  6. After the storm passes, it clears for a day or two before that same storm develops another system and pivots that into our area for early the next week.  It will grow colder after that storm.
  7. Over all: very storm and very wet for the next 10 days.
Temperatures:

  1. Mon – Tue … cool with E-SE breeze, temps struggle to reach 60.
  2. Wed - Thu … partly sunny, still a breeze out of the SE. Temps with enough sunshine into the 60s. If clouds stay tough, only 55. I think the sun will break through). The nights will be warm with temps staying above 50.
  3. late Thu - Sat … lots of clouds, more humid as warm air and moisture surge up from the south. Temps into the lower 60s Fri, and upper 60s Sat.
  4. Sun … Nicer with more sunshine and temps warming to upper 60s/70 degrees.
  5. Week two through May 11 will likely start with more rain, possibly heavy, followed by drier and growing colder weather for the rest of the week. Temps will average pretty normal to start. Our average temps should be around the mid to upper 60s for very early May. We will be a little below that for the week, esp. late.
Precipitation:

  1. Mon – Tue … some decent rains possible in the showers. Some areas could get 1/2 an inch, others much less.
  2. Wed - Thu ... much drier, but come light showers could be around. Drizzle is esp. possible into Wed morning.
  3. Late Thu - Sat ... could be very wet with heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms. Quite possible to see from 1 1/2 - 3 inches of rain. This would not cause flooding at this time. An update will come if warranted. The rain should be done by Sat morning.
  4. Sun ... nice and dry. A beautiful day by comparison, before more rain arrives early in the next week.
