The threat for patchy ice today was removed by the presence of more sunshine due to the slower than expected arrival of the clouds. This allowed temps to rise into the mid and upper 30's. Plus the precipitation I was concerned about (not much but a little ice creates big headaches), stayed to our NW. So thank you sunshine!
Now on to the little "Jan Thaw". We will warm significantly Thu and Fri, before the temperature crash on Sat. Rain, 1"+ of it as some will be on the heavy side is welcome since we've been so dry this past month. But the frozen stream will break up so some ice damming issues may be possible. Rain Thu afternoon into Fri morning, then more rain Fri night into Sat. Now the fun is Sat morning. As the arctic front plows east the rain will change to sleet/freezing rain then snow. But when does it do it? How much precipitation will fall during this changeover? I'll know more over the next 24-36 hours. Until then, enjoy the warmer weather. It will not last long. Possible snowfall Tue/Wed of next week too!
