Now that vacation is over, it is time to get back to the weather.  It was warm and moist while we were away for 13 days, and that trend will continue. Believe me, this is turning out to be a fantastic growing season over large parts of the nation. It is looking very good. The only drought region is the SW. But during the summer they hardly get any rain anyway so that is not unusual.

For us, the pattern of wet during the midweek, and then cooler and nice over the weekend should continue … again. How many times has this occurred since Palm Sunday?  Almost every week. It is amazing.

This being a new month: July; here is what to expect for this month. (recall June was warm and wet as expected).

Temperatures: above normal (mainly due to humidity and warm nights)

Precipitation: above normal

Highlights for this week:

A cold front with a nice push of cool air will gradually push east through Tuesday. It will stall over us through Thursday. As it does, a Tropical storm will develop off the SE coast of the US. This storm will strengthen and likely become a weak hurricane that will threaten the NC/VA coastline for July 3rd and 4th. The only impact upon us will be to keep the old front on top if us, giving us more showers/storms. Otherwise, the tropical storm will be well east of our area.

Dailies:

Today-Wednesday: becoming hot and humid. Sun mixing with some clouds. Chance of showers and storms each afternoon and into the overnight hours. Any showers/storms will contain some very heavy rain and gusty winds. Best chance will be Wed. High: mid 80s Monday and near 90 Tue and Wed. Overnight lows upper 60s to near 70 all three nights.

Thursday: Showers and storms will be widespread. Expect some heavy rain and maybe localized flash flooding of small streams. Still very humid, but mostly cloudy to partly sunny. High: 87. Low: 64.

Friday: Clearing skies as front shifts further east, and tropical storm heads NE staying away from our area. Humididty decreasing noticeably. A beautiful evening for Fireworks and picnics will be unfolding. High: 80. Low: 58.

Saturday – Sunday: Mostly sunny and beautiful. Lower humidity, but increasing a little on Sunday. High: 80 -85 both days. Lows: mid 50s. Another beautiful weekend is coming. See below where the big 'H' is sitting. Right on top of PA!
