First off: snow heavier snow showers may move through our area this evening and look impressive for a time. The ground may whiten as well. Nothing to serious though ...
Accumulating snow next Tuesday night into Wednesday morning: This storm will be weak, but will strengthen slowly and then more rapidly as it heads NE from the lower Mississippi Valley to off the Delmarva Peninsula. This path would put us in the cold air and give us our first accumulating snow of the season. PLEASE do not buy into the “rain/snow shower” forecast that I have heard. Not sure what those forecasts on based on but there is only one model that supports that idea … while the GEM, NAM, UKMET, ECMWF, GFS, NOGAPS all give us snow. In fact I would expect to see a few to several inches out of this. One thing to note is that the models usually correct storm tracks a little to the west and north as you get closer to the event. Summary: Expect a nice swath of snow from late Tuesday – early Wednesday morning that will disrupt travel some.
