Beneficial Rains coming early next week! Yes, in case you have not noticed, but is has been very sunny and relatively dry the last few weeks. Some lawns are turning a shade brown now, which is not uncommon in August, but a soaking rain would be good too. The maps below indicate what I feel is a good representation of what is likely to happen Mon - Tue of this coming week. The first shows the deepening storm, with authentic chilly air behind it. The second shows expected total rainfall of 1-2" throughout the state ... Forecast below. The pleasant weather will gradually grow warmer and more humid into Tue, to be followed by genuine cool/chilly air for Wed-Fri of next week. Yes, some real cool air, not this couple of degree below average stuff that really is not all that “cool”. After next week’s shot of really cool air, it looks like we will start a trend of warming and by the last 1/3 of the month I expect to see some hot, humid weather just in time for school to begin!
On to the questions for this coming week: 1) How much rain will we receive Mon-Tue? This looks like a classic set up for some heavy rain for us. Deepening storm just to our NW, with a strong southerly flow ahead of it. I would expect a solid 1” of rain for most everyone with up to 2” in some spots. 2) Does the front stall? There is some indication that the front could stall over our area or just to our east. This could lead to some additional showers through Wed. 3) How cool is cool for Wed-Fri? Coolest day near 73 and coolest morning low upper 40s Thu. Now that is fall-like. (83 for a high and 58 for low is NOT fall like!) 4) Any sign of storms in the Tropics? Nada. Atlantic is shut down right now. Maybe by the last 1/3 of the month. But the strong El Nino is helping to stifle what tries to get going, but even that is tough with the relatively cool tropical ocean temps in the Atlantic basin at this time. Sunday: 83. Sun and Clouds. Very slight chance of a shower. Monday: 84. More humid. Sun and afternoon clouds. Showers/storms very late and overnight. Tuesday: 77. Mostly cloudy. Morning showers/storms with some heavy rain likely. Wednesday: 74. Sun and clouds. Cool NW breeze. Thursday: 78. Beautiful after chilly morning. Mostly sunny. Friday: 82. Mostly sunny. Warmer. Saturday: 85. Mostly sunny. Warmer. Sunday: 87. Mostly sunny. Very warm.
