That piece of energy left over from the late last week’s system is producing lots of rain to our south and will en-train some tropical energy/moisture later tonight/Tue as expected and will produce a nice soaking rain for our area. Locales to our east will get some heavy to very heavy rain with totals of 2-3”+ possible, but for us expect around 1” of rain from tonight through Tue night. The rain should be steady, and not terribly heavy (Map 1).
After this, that ridge builds back in very quickly and brings some summer-like temperatures starting Thursday (Map 2). A weak cool front will try to drop south and cool us some for Saturday, but I doubt it does much of anything at all. And then it washes out or retreats north for Sunday giving us a hot day Sunday and Monday before the cold front arrives Monday afternoon with some showers and thunderstorms. Some of those storms could be rather strong.
A brief cool down occurs only to be followed by warming once again. It appears that a major trough will take up position in the heartland of the continent with ridges on near/on both coasts. This will keep us mild/warm and moist for the most part. Not a bad way to enter the last month of spring (Map 3).
