As you can see, not much happening for Sun night into Monday. Just a few rain/snow showers.

This is for Tue night/Wed. As you can see some light precipitation is around (snow). I think this model is jumping too much energy out front too fast as depicted by the storm well off the coast. It should be closer to coast so more moisture is handed off to the northern system. This is a classic and well documented model error.

This is just an idea of how a storm may try to come up toward us late next weekend, or early the following week. It is something to watch as it could be significant.
It has been a cold winter, and it will continue into the first weekend of March, and likely through the following week as well. How much snow? Well, that is a tougher question.

The set up for this week is one massive arctic air mass to reside over southern Canada and to push into the Northern half of the US. The deeper we go into the week, the deeper we get into the cold air.  There are three chances for snow this week. BUT DON’T PANIC … they are not big, huge storms.

1) Sun night into Monday … light snow at best. Probably a few snow showers. A coating to maybe an inch. Not a big deal.

2) Tuesday night-Wednesday … this is probably the best chance as a storm will be exiting off the Coast and heading East Northeast. The pattern is progressive, so the storm will not have much time to move up the coast, however, there may be some interaction with a weak storm passing to our north. This could lead to a hand off of moisture. Leading to a light to at most moderate snowfall.

3) Weekend … lots of question marks here. We do know there will be lots of cold air around. There will be lots of packets of energy roaming through the fast flow coming off the Pacific. This is good news for California as they start to get wet. Back home, if one storm does try to make a run at us, I think it will be later rather than sooner.

This week will be cold. But the depth of cold is more questionable later in the week. What I mean is will we get down to 5 at night or 15?  Get up to 25 or 32? So the end of the week, may need adjusting in  couple of days as the picture becomes more clear. Here are the details for now:

Today: A beauty. West winds, dry air and lots of sunshine. Mild to warm. High: 50. Low: 30.

Sunday: Clouds and sun. More clouds late. Some rain/snow showers overnight. High: 47. Low: 28.

Monday: Clearing skies. Colder. High: 35. Low: 24.

Tuesday: Clouds and sun. Could be some snow showers around.  On the cold side. Steady light snow may arrive late at night.  High: 30. Low: 24.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, light snow. Clearing at night. High: 28. Low: 15.

Thursday: Cold with mostly sunny skies. Snow shower or squall possible late with cold front passing through. High: 26. Low: 10.

Friday: Cold with sunshine and clouds. High: 30. Low: 6.

Saturday: Cold with sunshine.  High: 28. Low: 18.

Sunday: Still cold, some sun early at best, but fading behind increasing clouds. Snow possible. High: 30. Low: 22.

Following week: increased storminess, as cold fluctuates between bitter cold and typical cold for early March. Again, the core of the cold will be to our west, with us on the eastern edge. I would look for a storm around Monday and then again Thu/Fri. This could be a snowy week. Again, this is only a hint at what may come.
