A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Mild/Warm then Cooler

The forecast of seasonal weather through Wed (today) then a mild/warm days Thu and Fri look right on target. Through the first 3 days of the week (Harrisburg, Reading) the closest climate stations to us, are running 1 - 1.5  degrees above average = seasonal. Today will be mild in the afternoon, but it was a chilly start.

But a few adjustments are needed for Thu and Fri:
  • Thu = slower arrival of the front means slower arrival of the clouds. This leads to more sun and more warming of the airmass. We should get into the middle 50s, perhaps a couple degrees higher.
  • Fri = same slower arrival means a much warmer start to the day (50+) and a longer time for the warmth to linger. We should break 60. And with some sunshine, we should rise to near 65. This is very nice. Showers will be likely. Not a wash out. Perhaps a rumble of thunder. But I doubt it.

A beautiful Weather Alert is likely to be issued for Fri. However, don’t get used to it. We are transitioning from winter to spring. It is expected to get bursts of warmth, but that cold will return and last longer than the warmth. But that changes dramatically as we near the end of the month and enter April.

More immediately, it starts cooling down Fri night through Sat, which will be a seasonal to mild day (mild start, seasonal afternoon).

Again, the pattern shapes up like this: this week is a seasonal week, with two mild/warm days (Thu/Fri) then a seasonally chilly week follows next week through the 24th. Then winter will be done, IMHO.

Enjoy.
