Finishing up lunch break right now ... so I am squeezing in a new forecast. Sorry for not updating, but being away last weekend, and playing catch up since Tue has put some things on the back burner. But no more!

There is a lot of talk about a sudden switch to spring and that winter is done or on fumes or is dying. And they point to the warm up this weekend and the fact that another warm-up will occur the middle of next week as proof of spring arriving.

But next Wed is March 13 ... the middle of March. Normally winter is close to or has ended and spring like weather is more common. There is nothing magical or incredible about forecasting winter is about done. It should be about done! It is amazing what some will "hype" just to get attention.

To make a long story short, instead of instant warmth, or long lasting cold, it looks like we will have a more traditional transition from winter to spring. This means the warm surges get stronger and longer, and the cold blasts get weaker and shorter as we go through the month and into April.  It means we can get warm, and we can get some more snow, as this transition continues. No need to make a big deal out of it, because we look to have a rather normal rise out of winter.

Weather coming up:
  • Weak system passes to our south Fri. Some light snow is possible. No accumulation here. Might be some accumulation to our south (Lancaster/York/Chambersburg).
  • Nice Saturday ... seasonal temperatures ... around 40.
  • Rain moves in Sat night. Could be a very brief period of snow/sleet/freezing rain in colder areas after midnight Sunday. If it does this, it will change to cold rain quickly.
  • Sunday: rain ends in the morning. If the clouds break up some, which I expect them to do, temperatures could rise into the 50's, if the clouds hold tough so will the chilly temperatures in the mid 40's.
  • Monday and Tuesday: we transition back to seasonal weather with highs 40-45.

Although forceasting the weather is an imperfect science, it is a pleasure to follow what the Creator has made.
