Major Rainstorm

Two big topics to talk about today:

1. Major Rainstorm.
2. Christmas Forecast.

First, the major rainstorm.

• This storm will be significant.
• It will be warm. Temperatures rise to near 60 Fri morning before falling back.
• It will be very wet. A widespread heavy rain is likely with 1-2” and locally higher amounts possible. 
• The NWS has issued a flood watch and that is a very good call. 
• The one saving grace with this storm is that is will not be a focused area of low pressure. The rain may come in two waves. The largest Thu night, the smaller Fri night, with a break in between. This is good. It lessens the flooding risk.
• I do think that area to our east like far eastern PA and NJ will receiving the heaviest rainfall.  

 
Second, the Christmas forecast: 

• It will feel like winter with temperatures in the lower 30’s.
• It may snow. Yes, that is correct. A weak but possibly somewhat strengthening system moves E-NE Christmas day out of the plains toward out area. Snow is possible for the second half of the day.
