Faithful Forecast

A Forecast for Southern Schuylkill and Northern Lebanon County

Independence Day Weekend (Sat - Tue) Weather Agreement - Updated

6/29/2017

The forecast will stay as I had it as it looks good for most of the days. However, it will not reach 91 today since there appears a lack of sunshine as if you hadn't noticed so far this morning.

Still looks like some showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening.  Temperatures may reach the middle 80's if the clouds break a little. If not 80 might be about it.

Enjoy!

(Note: Seasonally cool for Monday?  Typo! Seasonal temps is more like it!)

Discussion:

I haven’t updated mainly because the forecast was doing so well … why mess it up?   But it is time as we have some rather important weekend for our nation coming up: Independence Day is next Tuesday, July 4th.  And everyone is looking for perfect weather conditions for all the outdoor plans they may have.

What is the weekend through the 4th looking like:  warm, humid with chance for showers/ thunderstorms.  No washouts appear to be coming. No blistering hot days of scorching sunshine either. Just typical summer weather.

I know some folks love the heat, but not everyone does. Personally, I have loved the last few days: cool, sunshine, breeze … just perfect!  So for the BIG WEEKEND the weather made an agreement: Warm, humid but not excessive. Some rain, but no washout. Everyone can be happy ... we hope!

The warm air is returning today and the humidity will follow shortly by Friday morning. A cold front will cross our area late Saturday night, and bring showers/storms for us on Saturday and Sat evening.  Sunday will be a little less humid, as will Monday. The 4th itself looks rather warm to hot and more humid again.  Another storm system with showers/storms will be arriving the night of the 4th and stay through Wednesday.

One observation that has been seen in the long-range forecast is the notion of the models trying to place a heat ridge in the eastern US. It seems every few days it appears around day 9 or later, but then it disappears, only to reappear again. What this tells me is this:  The models sense something is coming, but are too fast with it. I feel that the core of the heat will remain out west, until later in the summer. August could be quite hot. We will have some heat this month, yet I feel cooler less humid air will keep pushing the heat back for a little while yet.

I know some folks love the heat, but not everyone does. Personally, I have loved the last few days: cool, sunshine, breeze … just perfect!

Dailies:

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Pleasantly warm.
Friday: Partly sunny. Chance for a shower and a thunderstorm. More humid.
Saturday: Partly sunny. Hot and humid. Showers and thunderstorms likely.
Sunday: Becoming mostly sunny. Warm and a little less humid. Breeze at times.
Monday: Mostly sunny. Pleasantly warm.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Chance for showers and thunderstorms very late and overnight. Hot. humid.
Wednesday: Partly sunny. Humid with showers and thunderstorms likely.

Enjoy!
