What will it do today?  Will it rain and spoil the fireworks displays? Unfortunately it does look wet tonight, and fortunately a soaking rain appears to be coming for our area.

The rain should arrive during the evening. And since fireworks don’t start until 9 pm, it looks very iffy to squeeze them in before. The heaviest rain should be between 11 pm – 6 am. In short expect .5” to .75” widespread with more to the south.

There will be a sharp cut off: Bradford to Williamsport to Scranton will get very little if any rain at all. Pittsburgh to York to Philadelphia could get 1” to 2”. We are right in between.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday all typical of summer. Very warm to hot and humid. Thunderstorms are possible late Thu/Thu night, Fri/Fri night and again late Saturday.

Points for Next 7 Days:
  1. Soaking Rain: A weak area of low pressure looks to move from the Central Plains and head east with a soaking rain for all in its path. Target area is the southern half of PA.
  2. Heat Surge:  Wed – Sat as heat ridge tries to build into our area. Temps surging toward 90 and above with humid conditions.
  3. Heat Slicers: Thu/Thu night, Fri night, and Saturday cooling thunderstorms may hit our area.

Details:

4th of July: 75. Thickening clouds. Rain arriving during the evening.

Tuesday: 84. Sun and clouds. Hot. Humid. Chance for a shower or storm.

Wednesday: 88. Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid.

Thursday: 90. Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Chance for showers/storms.

Friday: 91. Mostly sunny. Humid. Chance for showers/storms.

Saturday: 90. Mostly sunny. Hot. Humid. Chance for showers/storms.

Sunday: 85. Sun and clouds.

Although forceasting the weather is an imperfect science, it is a pleasure to follow what the Creator has made.
