Harrisburg (.5 above); Allentown (.5 below); Reading (.7 below); Philly (1.2 above); Williamsport (.6 below). All in all averaging out to being pretty average. So much for cool. And now hot weather will be returning.
Questions for Forecast:
1. How hot will it get? So far this year, we have not gotten that hot. It has been wet most of the summer. However, we are not so wet now. Also, is coming out of the west/southwest which has also dried out for the most part from what it was earlier in the year. So it seems the potential is there for 90 degree heat for much of this coming week starting Sunday.
2. Should I change outdoor plans? Sat, Tue and Friday offer the best chances for rain. I would not change plans though. It will not be an all-day event. Perhaps the day with the most potential to be fairly wet is Thursday.
3. Impact of Twin Super Typhoons in the West Pacific? Hard to say. One will recurve east of Japan. That means it will head north, then curve east into the prevailing westerlies, and be absorbed into the pattern, adding a lot of energy to the atmosphere. This often leads to a major cool down in the eastern US in about a 5 days after it recurves. However with two Super Typhoons, one going toward China and one recurving, one wonders if this rule will be enhanced or blunted. Unsure. I expect a cool down sometime after the 23rd but how big? Cannot answer that question just yet.
