Discussion:
This morning we have 2 big stories in the weather:
First the big storm. Lots of severe weather occurring today and tonight. It does not appear to make it into our area, but there will be lots of rain, some wind, and cool conditions through Saturday. Rain showers and some thunderstorms will develop and build in coverage through the morning hours peaking from about 9 am – 6 pm. Some of the rain will be very heavy. Localized flooding is a definite concern with the moist conditions we’ve had lately. With the strength, the position and upper level support and tilt, I would expect 1.5” – 2” of rain. This will make the streams and creeks rise to very close to flood stage, but there should not be any serious problems. Therefore, the NWS has not issued a flood watch for our area. Now areas to our east and north have one because they have had more rain than us lately. Although we’ve been wet, they have been wetter. The rains should taper off to showers Thu night, and Friday. We could see some wet snow mixing in on Friday morning and night. No accumulation expected. The storm will begin to pull away Friday night. The winds will be gusty to strong of Thu and Fri, but begin to lessen on Sat. Some clearing will take place on Sat setting the stage for the next big weather story: heat! Yes, that is right, heat! A ridge will take residence in our area for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and into Wednesday. Lots of sunshine is expected and warming temperatures on a SW wind flow. Highs will start near 60 Sun then 70 Mon and maybe even near 80 Tue, before the cold front approaches us on Wed bringing cooler weather. This front does not appear to be all that strong nor all that wet. So, we will be able to dry up a little and get some yard work done. Like mowing the lawn as the grass will take off with the warm temperatures. The dailies:
