A Dry Boring Run of Weather = Very Good!

Yes, it certainly is when it comes to the weather around here this year. After a record setting summer of rain, and multiple floods to clean up after, we are finally in a dry stretch of weather.  Enjoy it as best you can.

This boring stretch is also rather easy to forecast: Lots of sunshine, and comfortable to warm temperatures. The only intrigue is on Sunday.  Take a look:
  • Today: Sunny.
  • Saturday: Sunny.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny. Chance for a shower/storm as a weakening frontal boundary tries to move through but washes out before it does. Most will stay dry, but when you’ve been very wet, you don’t ignore subtle boundaries, as they often do more than you’d expect.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny. Warmer and more humid. Ridge takes control and warms us up. You will hear of the word “heat wave” in the news, but that will apply to the urban corridor (Philly, DC, NYC, etc., due to urban heat island effect) but for the countryside, I do not see three or more consecutive 90-degree days).
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Warm and humid.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Warm and humid.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny. Humid. Chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Like I said, boring. Very little intrigue in the short term. However, in the longer term (beyond 10 days) there is a concern that the tropics become more active (been dead all summer so wouldn’t take much to make it more active) and with the ridge in the east, and trough in the west, moisture from a tropical system could easily be pulled toward our area. We do not need tropical rains. Maybe it does not happen, but the concern is there because the set up is favorable for it.

I do expect a warm September with above average rainfall.

But, until that time, enjoy the spectacular weather of today.

Although forceasting the weather is an imperfect science, it is a pleasure to follow what the Creator has made.
